Gears Of War 2 - Title Update 3 Has Arrived - Big Improvements!

It is not often i post about a patch, even for a game i really enjoy, such as Gears Of War 2 - But since i just downloaded the patch and noticed the changes i just had to pass it on!

From today (24th March) if you are connected to Xbox Live and Signed Onto Live as soon as you put your Gears Of War 2 Game Disc into the machine you will automatically download this "Title Update 3 Patch", this will basically fix various bugs and change a few features, however in this update its rather special.

This 3rd update doesnt only fix bugs and make the rules abit fair - it also makes connections seem more stable and rules of combat have slightly changed, for example people leaving the game earlier will now get experience points deducted from them - which is another thing.

Gears Of War 2 used to have an online badge mode where your first badge icon was a rookie, then private, then sergant etc, well now it done by numbers and everyone now starts off at Level 1 and the only way to improve is to gain experience points (this is where the points when you kill the other team or take a weapon comes in) - the more kills you get or more active you are in a game, the more experience points you get and in over time the higher your online rank will get. This system (from my 2 hour impression) is alot better and more fun than the previous rankings, as you will only get put with people with a similar rank as yourself, for example the maxium ive seen is 10 (out of 100) - but as soon as i get to 10, i see ranks of people form 11 - 20 and so on.

Another thing to mention is that 9 new achievements have been added onto the game via this update, 6 are related to the new "Snowblind" map pack which is due for release next week(apparently) - which means however hard you try you wont unlock thoose 6 until you buy the snowblind map pack - which consists of 4 new maps relating to the snowy moutains. The other 3 achievements however related to the new experience set up.

Either way the game is far more enjoyable and alot of fun - not to mention after every match your always informed of your current status with your experience and how much youve got left to go until you reach your next rank.
