If you havent noticed already on Guitar Hero World Tour there is a "announcement trailer" for the upcoming Guitar Hero Metallica game, to be honest i only noticed it a few days ago.
The trailer itself doesnt reveal much other than it will feature majority of Metallica's hits and be due out in 2009.
Im guessing the game will play the same way Guitar Hero: Aerosmith did with other bands being used as support acts (let alone little breaks from the main band). The game itself will feature around 45 Tracks, 28 being Metallica and the other 17 being other bands that either supported them or influenced their songs.
Not alot of information is known about the game, however you will be able to use the accessories that came with Guitar Hero World Tour. Yes Guitar Hero Metallica can be played on Guitar, Drums, Vocals, Bass or even the FULL Band, so it will soon be time to ride the lighting of Metallica.
At the moment wikipedia seems to be the best place for information, so i suggest you head over there and check it out. The game will be released onto the PS2, Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The Latest Trailer regarding Guitar Hero Metallica can be seen below, however this differs from the one shown on the GH:WT Disc, as the one of the GH:WT Disc was just an announcement trailer and this one below is the real "gameplay" type trailer, so enjoy:
On the Xbox 360 Version of Sonic Unleashed you get an achievement for getting "S Rank" on a Sonic Mission and an achievement for completing ACT 2 of Apotos within 2 minutes and 35 seconds.
Some people are still having trouble doing it, even though there is a variety of guides out there - so heres a "run-through video" of what you should do, in a sense if you watch this video enough times youll relise how to do it.
Sonic Unleashed can definately be frustrating at times, espically the random speeds when dashing or awkard jumps, so getting these 2 Achievements on this 1 level is the easiest way to get them (in my opinion) as majority of the time if you do the level under 2 minutes and 35 seconds and attack enough enemies youll get an S or A Rank anyway - so youll be knocking out 2 achievements with 1 hit. The easiest way to do the "S Rank" as Werehog is to do Act 2 of Apotos, as all it is opening doors, finding the keys , then a mini-boss fight, if you find all the medals, get all the rings and dont get hit too much youll easily S Rank it.
Anyway heres the video i made for the 2 achievements, it is a little blurry at times (not sure why), if you cant see it very well try watching it in "High Quality" on youtube itself, enjoy:
Earlier in the year, and just after the olympics, the N-Gage Arena hosted its "N-Gage Arena Medal Games Tournament" - a competition that would last for an entire month and the overall winner would recieve alot of prizes, not to mention fame.
However each individual event (1 per day) the top 3 winners were awarded a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal, i myself managed to win a few of these events and i ended up coming 4th overall in the tournament (2 points away from 3rd place), but what i did manage to win was 5 Bronze Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 1 Gold medal.
So through the post (DHL) today i recieved my medals, they arent as good as the previous "engraved medals", however its nice to see the N-Gage Arena actually rewarding something "physical" for a change inside of virtual icons (like on most other community tournament sites).
So yea i am now an official "Medal Games Champion!" On another note last monday, 22nd december, saw the final N-Gage game to be released onto the N-Gage platform this year, which was "Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D" (or for short Crash Nitro Kart 3D). The game itself is very similar to the previous Iphone version - with minor changes, the most noticeable being the graphics, however it still has some of the "best" graphics the N-Gage can offer, also its alot easier to control because on the iphone version you had to tilt the iphone and it was very sensitive.
The game is also different to the previous"Crash Nitro Kart" that was released on the original N-Gage device, not to mention more power ups and better graphics, however the original CNK had shadow racing where as this new one only has time trial / score uploads.
The game costs 8 GBP (for a full license), however i have been told you can complete the game (if your good at racing) in 1 day without much trouble, the download size is 4mb and i believe the install size is 4mb aswell, so yet again another small download - but another great game for the N-Gage!
Another year and another awards ceremony, thats right the N-Gage Arena Player Awards are back and its time to vote!
For thoose of you who dont know what the N-Gage Arena Player Awards are, let me fill you in. Basically Its where N-Gage Arena players vote for there favourite players, for example if you think Kusia_7 is the best (or most feared) n-gage player in the arena youd vote for him. After a certain amount of time the votes will be counted and the awards will be given out in a special award ceremony.
No prizes are given, however in the old n-gage arena we did used to get a little trophy picture in our profile, In a sense its just alot of fun and its to reward the users that have done hardwork in the N-Gage arena in the past year, if im not mistaken this is the 3rd or 4th year of the N-Gage Arena player awards.
To cast you vote click here, or to find out more information check out Ikona's post on the official N-Gage Blog! Happy Voting!
Another week, and another "hot" title for the N-Gage and this time its Capcom's Resident Evil: Degeneration.
Firstly the plot of the game is based upon the recently released CGI Movie, where Leon is sent to investigate an airport that is filled with zombies, mainly to rescue a few survivors and to put a stop to the infection. I Wont spoil much of the plot however what happened was that an airplane carrying an infected passenger (infected with T-Virus) crashed into the terminal, doing so killing alot of people and spreading the virus, a few hours later a cry for help from a few survivors is made and thats when Leon is sent in to find them - if you want to get the full story behind it all, i suggest watching the CGI Movie as well as playing the game.
The game itself however is only 2mb to download and 2mb of storage space is used on your phone, the reason for the smaller "sized" downloads is that the new games developed by Ideaworks use a new kind of SDK (Software Development Kit), so the games are smaller in storage size, but contain alot of data and some great gameplay.
A Few days ago i mentioned that the video of Resident Evil: Degeneration had the same gameplay style to Resident Evil 4 and 5, well this is infact true, the game plays exactly like the console counterparts and strangely enough works and feels perfect on your phone and anyway thats new to the resident evil series can still pick up and play.
The game features 11 Chapters, over 5 Different Weapons (which can all be upgraded) and a mercenary mode. Mercenary mode is where you play as Leon (or one of the other characters) and the objective of this mode is to kill as many zombies (aswell as collect as many treaures) as possible within a certain amount of time limit, if similar to other Resident Evil Mercenary modes, the money can be used to purchase weapon upgrades and stats for your character.
The graphics are also "extremely" impressive for a mobile phone game and are alot better than the recent Metal Gear Solid, but in terms of gameplay (and graphics) the Nintendo DS should watch out as the N-Gage's Triple A titles are now starting to appear! Rock On!~
Resident Evil: Degeneration is OUT NOW on the N-Gage application (on your phone) and should be available on the website within a few days, the game itself costs £8 for a full license, and in my opinion i think youll need it, as there is ALOT to keep you entertained, if your still not sure check out this video below or even download the trial version for yourself:
Ever since "One" was released on the N-Gage it has set a new basic requirement for N-Gage gaming, and now that Metal Gear Solid has arrived the requirement has gone even higher and its still hard to believe that the best has yet to come.
Falling into the same caterogry as when Gears 1 and Gears 2 were released onto the xbox 360, as these 2 games set the new "high" standards for HD Gaming, Resident Evil: Degeneration does the same thing on the N-Gage, by raising everything to badass.
The Gameplay looks very similar to Resident Evil 4 (and Resident Evil 5), as instead of having the camera in a fixed posistion (like in the old Resident Evil games) the camera is on the shoulder of your character, just like in Resident Evil 4 and 5. The Graphics are on par with PS1 (yet again) however they look better than MGS on N-Gage. QTE (Quick Time Events) from Resident Evil 4 are still present so in a sense its Resi 4 gameplay, with a new plot in the palm of your hand - and its looking fantastic.
Anyway you can judge for yourself what you think abou the game, so check out the gameplay video and more on its official gamepage here.
Gears Of War 2 may have been released only a month ago, however it doesn't stop the developers "sucking" more cash out of us.
Released on the xbox live marketplace yesterday was the new "Combustible Map Pack" for Gears Of War 2, which contains 2 brand new (and rather interesting maps) and 1 Remake from the PC Version of Gears Of War.
The two new maps are "Flood" and "Fuel Station", the 3rd map is taken from the PC Version of Gears Of War, named "Gold Rush".
In Flood the "imulsion" level rises and takes away the land, so you can stay at the bottem of the level for awhile, but as soon as it starts to creep up, youve got to find higher ground, or else your dead. Fuel Station is a remake of the gas station in Gears Of War 1 - lots of explosive situations and great ideas for harder horde levels, as you can just go to the top of the building and pick off the locust one by one. Gold Rush is really just a standard level with two different height levels, similar to subway - can be alot of fun.
The Combustible Map pack is 800 MS Points and brings abit more excitement to the already enjoyable Gears of war 2, For more information check out the official trailer below:
Back in October 2003 Nokia launched its first dedicated Gaming Mobile phone called the N-Gage, The N-Gage had a built in FM Radio, MP3 Playback and PS1 Styled graphics they could easily out-rank the Gameboy Advance - but it came with a £250 Price tag and looked rather odd to use aswell as to insert games you had to remove the battery.
a Year or so later the modified N-Gage QD was released, gone had its taco-shaped design and so had gone the FM Radio and MP3 Playback, however games (which came on MMC Cards) could easily be inserted due to its card slot on the side of the phone, later in the year Expansion kits were made including a Dual MMC Slot holder, Wireless Headphones and a speaker.
At E3 2005 Nokia announced it would be making a dedicated N-Gage 2 Phone and it would have graphics that could rival the PS2, a concept video and photos were shown - however nothing ever happened with the idea.
At E3 2006 Nokia announced that it would be leaving the "dedicated N-Gage Phone" and it would be rebranding N-Gage into a software only "games service" and that the games would run on a variety of phones, videos and pictures were shown - the phones shown in the videos were similar to the Nokia 6600 or 6630 - however games for the current N-Gage were still released, the last title being Payload, which was released on the "software only" market.
In 2007 Nokia Announced the N-Series Devices and that the previously released N93 would be the first true phone to support N-Gage, later in the year the N-Gage service was released and the N81 was the first major phone to have it on, since then a number of phones now support the N-Gage service, including the Express Music 5320 (full list), however a year down the line and the N93 still has NO SUPORT for N-Gage even though it was dubbed to be the best N-Gage compatible phone.
The Concept Vs Reality part is this, the original N-GAGE 2 Phone (shown to the right) looks very similar to the N-Series devices used today, espically the N95. Mainly because its grey/silver and when the slider feature is used it looks similar to the picture shown above. So even though the concept design for N-Gage 2 Phone were scrapped the reality is that its still partly here in some of the other N-Series Phones.
In my opinion when we had a single device and i heard about the "software only" with multiple devices, i was pritty worried - however im now glad nokia took this approach, as everyone has different tastes on phones, such as size, style, specifications and this way nokia have targetted everyone, so anyone with one of the compatible phones can go and download N-Gage and have fun with hundreds of people online - the only problem is the price-tag. The phones cost around £200 - £500 (sim-free) which isn't exactly easy to afford, however the N-Series phones are now becoming popular in the UK so more service providers are offering them on cheaper contract deals, thats how i got my N95, but then later bought an N81 8GB for £200.
But a question still stands, would the true N-Gage 2 (dedicated phone) been better and cost effective than the N-Series devices we use now?, i know the N-Gage 2 Concept phone doesnt look nice - but it would have been interesting to see the finish product.
And now here we are, at the end of 2008, the N-Gage is in full swing - tournaments are taking place, games are released every other week, and new users are joining everyday - looks to me like the N-Gage is far off dead and im happy to be an N-Gage Arena user and gamer.
If you wish to have a look at the N-Gage in its prime-time then check out a music video i made showing the history of the phone, the arena, its players and its games. You can check it out below:
Boom Blox may have been recently released on N-Gage, however that doesnt stop a Guide being made by N-Gage Arena users Sheridan01 and Superious.
The Guide - which is VERY easy to understand, explains and shows where to put your cursor in order to get GOLD TROPHIES in the game.
The guide is very useful, espically for the later levels and in my opinion is easier to understand than Prima official guides. Anyway if your stuck on Boom blox, you should take a look at the guide here. Have Fun!
Hideo Kojima's most critical aclaimed masterpiece, Metal Gear Solid, has finally sneaked its way onto our N-Gage Devices and to be honest i couldnt be more happier.
The Original Metal Gear Solid Mobile was previously a japanese exclusive for japanese mobile phones, but once Konami signed the deal to release games onto the N-Gage platform their first game would be Metal Gear Solid Mobile.
To start off with Metal Gear Solid Mobile is only a 2mb download and a 2mb install, however once installed the game you get is something that can "easily" rival the PS1 Version of Metal Gear Solid espically in terms of graphics and gameplay, as they look very similar (except portable).
To be honest i dont know much of the storyline (guess i should read the brief more often), but you start off as Snake (no surprise there) who is crawling around inside an airduct - as soon as your out of the airduct you have to sneak around 4 rooms to get to your destination (which in my case was the end of the trial). Their is various enimies to dodge (or shoot using the M-9 Pistol Drug (the same one thats used in Metal Gear Solid 2). You also have the cameleon suit from Metal Gear Solid 4, however i wasnt able to use this). Also Otacon is back and is always available to give you assistance, or smart comments.
Apart from the main story mode there is also 14 VR Missions, extra costumes and Online Scoreboards - so their is a fair amount of gameplay modes to keep you entertained.
As i said before, the game plays very similar to the original MGS game, so fans of the original series will love it, i am a fan of the original series and i love it aswell!
The game costs £8 for a full license, £4 for a 7 day license or £1.50 for a day license, but for MGS its probably best to get the FULL LICENSE. So what are you waiting for Buy it now!
Last friday saw the release of the Resident Evil 5 Demo, however this demo is only available in Japan region, and with most Xbox Live Downloads you have to be a GOLD Member to get it, so you could either create a new JAPANESE Account or try downloading it via various FTP or P2P Websites across the internet.
The Demo itself is under 500mb and even though it was released on the japanese marketplace, the game is in FULL ENGLISH, so anyone that can read and understand english can easily play the game.
The Demo features 2 Different parts in the game, both of these were recently shown in E3 and both can be played in Single Player, Offline CO-OP or Online CO-OP - however since the game is "mainly" in japan it can be quite hard to find someone in your country who has got the demo, unless you tell them about it. Each level section can take around 15 - 20 minutes, maybe longer if you take it careful.
The game itself however looks very detailed and plays exactly like Resident Evil 4, when i picked up the game i didnt notice much difference as the basic control system is the same, just a different pad - no surprise they kept it this way as it did feel more natural than the old Resi Control systems, so in my opnion its shaping up to be a really great game and definately one to watch out for.
To Download the DEMO now you would most likely need to get it off a P2P or FTP Website (no im not providing links as im not 100% sure if thats legal), as ive read reports that CAPCOM have already "region locked" the download, meaning the game can still be played on any console in the world, however you have to be in japan to download the demo itself (they check via your IP address). However the same demo should be appearing on US and UK Xbox Live Marketplaces - sometime next year.
Resident Evil 5 Should be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in March 2009 and retailed around £39.99, however the price and date has yet to be official confirmed.
The latest game to arrive onto the N-Gage platform was the previously "Wii Exclusive" Boom Blox, another game made by EA and for once its actually pritty good and alot of fun.
Boom Blox is a game created by Steven Spielberg and the aim of the game is to get all the coloured boxes out of the level within the required number of shots. Seems easy but it isnt, as SKULL Boxes block the way and if you shoot them out of the level you loose points, so its all about accuarcy and timing. Some levels can be easy and some can be hard - but its what makes the game enjoyable.
The N-Gage version is no different and is basically a simplified version of the wii version, just move the cursor, shoot and hope for the best (sometimes). No online play is offered, however a "level editor" has also been included so you can make your own levels, so the fun can carry on for a long time.
Boom Blox is 2mb to download and 2mb to install - so its perfect for phones without much storage space. The full license only costs 6 GBP aswell, which is quite surprising as most EA Games are 8 GBP, Eitherway Boom Blox is a fun and addictive game and its worth a try - so grab it now!
Over on the "Official N-Gage Blog" ikona has posted up 2 new N-Gage Videos and released the full list of N-Gage games that are expected to be released within 2009.
As you may know the past 2 months for N-Gage games has been a little dry, for instance One was released back in late September/ Early november - with a competition to make it last the whole month (however certain cheaters made the tournament get cancelled). Then Fifa 09 was recently released and now a competition is running for that as well. My guess is that they are making these competitions due to the lack of N-Gage games this holiday season.
Anyway thats all about to change, espically with this big list of games that are heading our way soon, so check em out:
3rd Party:
Asphalt 4: Elite Racing Boom Blox™ Crash Bandicoot: Nitro Kart 3D DChoc Café™ Sudoku DChoc Café™ Hold’ Em Poker METAL GEAR SOLID® MOBILE Million Dollar Poker MONOPOLY Here & Now: The World Edition Need For Speed™ Undercover Pandemonium™ Prince of Persia Real Football 2009 RESIDENT EVIL: DEGENERATION Spore™ Origins Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® Tomb Raider: Underworld™ The Sims™ 3
1st Party:
Yamake Creebies Mega Monsters Dance Fabulous
So to put it blunt theres alot more coming to the N-Gage (and to be honest, that list is alot bigger than i was expecting). Not only did ikona post this big list of new games, he also posted 2 new N-Gage videos, one being a "mini-promo" video for the N-Gage, labelled "BIG Games" and the other being a teaser trailer for the new resident evil game, you can check em out below:
